About & Credits

Welcome to Homestuck Music, a fan-made Homestuck music wiki, and a shameless ripoff of the original HSMusic .

I won't put the original site's history here, you can go see for yourself. I might be copy-pasting the entire content here, but I wont pretend it isn't an illegitimate clone. All info like "date added to wiki" and other things specific to this website will be accurate to this website.

Now, on the reason for this site's creation: long story short, I found the Homestuck Sound Test" and wanted these songs included on the wiki, but due to a mix of social anxiety and the assumption that if they'd wanted these songs included they would have sdone it already, I created this website. The only reason I wouldn't say it's cobbled together is because I specifically copy-pasted from the original. This website is, needless to say, not intended for use by people other than myself. If you're somehow here reading this, I urge you to go to the real deal . Alternatively, if you know how to make a Neocities website private, I would appreciate the information.

Short story long: I was born on the [REDACTED] of [CENSORED] of [DATA EXPUNGED] as a little autistic baby, though no one would find out until [ACCESS DENIED] years later. A couple years prior, I had found Homestuck, and promptly abandoned it when, while in the middle of parsing the end of Act 5 Act 2 (not END OF ACT 5 ACT 2, just, towards the end of it, going through Scratch's scrapbook), I lost all my Chrome bookmarks. Around the time I actually got diagnosed (no, I admit, the actual diagnosis isn't relevant here, but the fact that I am autistic is, hear me out), I remembered Homestuck was a thing, and thanks to my absolute shit attention span preventing me from actually reading it, I had to resort to Let's Reads. One of those was Voice Over Nexus , but when I reached the point wherethey had last updated (Act 6 Intermission 4), I had to switch to another Let's Read. I unfortunately can't find it anymore as of typing this, but I do remember the person was wearing a Nepeta hat.

So I managed to finish "reading" Homestuck for the first time, then I read the Epilogues, and am now caught up on Homestuck^2. Where does this website fit into all that?

Well, watching an episode of Let's Read Homestuck (ironically, one of the Act 5 Act 2 videos), I was very moved by the choice of music accompanying the present scene ( Do You Remem8er Me and Mother ), and I wanted to learn more about the songs, these ones specifically, but also the soundtrack in general. And so I found HSMusic . At that moment began what would, yet a couple years later, become one of my very dear special interests (with wasps): the Homestuck Soundtrack.

During a wouple weeks where I listened to Volumes 9 and 10 on loop while working on a crafts project, I would become obsessed with remembering every single track in the album (it was a challenge for me, okay, I have a poor memory for names and titles). I would set out to create quizzes for myself of each and all Homestuck albums, and I only officially quit a month ago, as of writing this, after completing the quiz for Beyojnd Canon . I will not post these quizzes, it's just important context. I am having so much fun writing this, as you can guess. This last sentence wasn't sarcastic, this is just the way I've chosen to talk on this website and I'm too commited to the bit to sound more enthusiastic. It also reflects the way I talk in real life, where people mock me for sounding so bored over things I'm genuinely excited about. Yet another autism thing. See? It was relevant all along. Anyway.

Once I realized I was growing bored of making quizzes but was still very interested in the music, I started analyzing the way the tracks would keep referencing each other. And by analyzing, I mean browsing HSMusic while listening to the soundtrack, seeing the ways the tracks would keep referencing each other.

Then, one day while browsing Homestuck.net (gasp, a website other than HSMusic), I found the Homestuck Sound Test and I just about cried tears of joy when I realized just how many songs there were on there. I shed some actual tears when I listened to Clark Powell's Flare (Green Sun Remix) (I had not, admitedly, dug deep enough in HSMusic to find it at that time). I realized most of the songs on there were'nt listed on the wiki, some that I like a lot, so much so that I sometimes wonder why the hell they weren't released officially. Since the moment I found it, I have always found HSMusic very practical, but I wanted to also keep track of these unreleased tracks in a similar way, yes, all of the +1000 tracks. I found Ascend's ancestor on there. So again, because I was too shy to ask for such an enormous request, and because I figured if they had found it relevant, they would have added all these songs already, I did not ask HSMusic to add these, again, +1000 tracks to their website, and instead started my own copy of it.

Now, to, maybe, my credit, I did not really copy-paste the entire layout. I sorta, reverse-engineered the website, typing each <div> and <span> and <p> individually and actually sorta teaching myself how a website works, and now I want to do my own from scratch, which I might share later if anything comes out of it.

Now that the history part is complete, onto the credits.

Resource & Author Credits

  • S: that's me. I'm not giving you anymore than that, sorry. I made this website. Hi.
  • Quasar Nebula: the original author(s)/programmer(s) (still confused about that one) of the original website . Go give them some love, they did all the hard work.
  • Homestuck's Bandcamp , the official host of Homestuck's music: HSMusic got almost all the official album listings and basic track info from here.
  • GiovanH's complete track art archive : track art. The original place HSMusic got their track art from.
  • NSND : leitmotifs. Thanks to this site in combination with credits on the bandcamp and artists' own commentary, the original wiki is a rather comprehensive resource for leitmotifs and other track references.
  • bgreco.net (HQ Audio Flashes) : thumbnail captures for the individual Flash animations. This is the place HSMusic wiki originally got them from, along with few captures missing they had to take themselves.
  • homestuck.com : Besides being the home of the webcomic this whole site is based around, the main wallpaper for the site is pulled from More from Homestuck .
  • All organizers and contributors of the Homestuck Vol. 5 Anthology - community-made track art for Homestuck Vol. 5 . All of this art is excellent . Each track credits its respective cover artist.
  • Likewise for the Beyond Canon Track Art Anthology as well as Alternia/Bound .
  • Again, thank you , and sorry, to HSMusic , 1. for your original website, it's really well made and made me discover a whole lot of music I wouldn't have found otherwise, music which made me want to compose my own, and 2. for not actually... asking for permission to make a copy of your website. Though you did say that the site's code is open source, so thank you actually.
